Praise Devotion - “Who You Say I Am”

Embracing Our Identity in Christ

Scripture: John 1:12 (NIV) - "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

Devotional Thought:

The song "Who You Say I Am" by Hillsong beautifully captures the essence of our identity in Christ. It reminds us that our worth is not determined by our accomplishments, opinions of others, or even our own self-perception. Instead, our true identity is found in what God says about us.

In John 1:12, we read that through faith in Jesus Christ, we are given the incredible privilege of becoming children of God. This truth holds tremendous significance. It means that our identity is not rooted in our past mistakes, shortcomings, or the labels others may have placed upon us. Rather, our identity is firmly established in being a beloved child of the King of kings.

As we reflect on the lyrics of the song, let us remind ourselves of the incredible truth that God has declared over us. He says that we are chosen, loved, and redeemed. We are seen, known, and never alone. We are called to be victorious, strong, and free.

In a world that constantly bombards us with messages that seek to define us by our achievements, possessions, or appearance, it is easy to lose sight of our true identity. However, when we anchor ourselves in God's unwavering love and acceptance, we find security and purpose beyond measure.

Today, let us remember that we are who God says we are. We are His children, deeply loved and cherished. Embrace the truth of your identity and live confidently in the knowledge that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Creator of the universe. Rejoice in the freedom and joy that come from being known and loved by God, for it is in Him that we find our truest selves.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and for calling me Your child. Help me to live each day with the knowledge that my identity is found in You alone. Strengthen my faith, that I may confidently walk in the truth of who You say I am. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
