Praise Devotion - “Firm Foundation (He Won’t)”
Devotion: Standing on the Firm Foundation
Scripture: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”—Psalm 18:2 (NIV)
Reflection: Life can feel like a storm sometimes—waves crashing, winds howling, and the ground beneath us trembling. In those moments, it’s easy to wonder where we can find stability, something solid to hold onto. The song “Firm Foundation (He Won’t)” reminds us of a powerful truth: Jesus is our unshakable foundation. He is the One who stands firm when everything else falters.
The lyrics proclaim, “Christ is my firm foundation, the rock on which I stand.” This echoes the promise of Scripture that God is our rock—steady, unchanging, and reliable. When we build our lives on Him, we don’t have to fear the chaos around us. The song goes on to say, “He won’t, He won’t, He won’t fail,” a declaration of God’s faithfulness. He doesn’t waver, even when we do. He doesn’t abandon us, even when we feel lost. His promises hold true, no matter the circumstances.
Think about a time in your life when everything seemed uncertain. Maybe it’s right now. What did you cling to? The beauty of trusting in Jesus as our foundation is that He’s not just a temporary fix—He’s eternal. He’s proven His power through the cross and resurrection, showing us that nothing, not even death, can overcome Him. If He can conquer the grave, He can carry us through anything.
Application: Take a moment to reflect on where you’re placing your trust today. Are you building on the shifting sands of your own strength, circumstances, or the opinions of others? Or are you rooted in the firm foundation of Christ? When the storms come—and they will—remind yourself of this truth: He won’t fail you. His love, His strength, and His promises are sure.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being my firm foundation. When life feels unsteady, help me to stand on the truth of who You are. You are my rock, my refuge, and my hope. Teach me to trust in Your unfailing nature and to rest in the assurance that You won’t let me go. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
